As a Person-Centred therapist I recognise clients have the capacity to fulfil their potential when able to truly encounter themselves. I facilitate the therapeutic process by creating a compassionate environment that fosters sincere and intimate experiencing of your true self.
A session consists of clients presenting issues as I actively listen for recurring themes and patterns. In noticing nuances of your story, further exploration is possible. Through exploring layers of experience, clients gain insight and understanding of unconscious conflicts, past and present feelings and behaviour.
As knots become untangled, choices become apparent, empowering you to be more fully yourself.
The therapeutic relationship is an important factor when considering counselling and psychotherapy. The therapeutic space must be a safe and trusting environment, free of judgment and advice. For this unique relationship to foster growth and change, clients must experience the therapist as congruent (genuine), empathic and prizing of the client (holding the client with unconditional positive regard). An initial session is important to see how it feels to work together.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and as a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I am working towards full accreditation. I am listed on the BACP Register.
